JCC Cinema 34: Chibi Maruko Chan
at Tampines West CC

Opening Address made by Event Team Manager Madam Keiko Soeda from JCC

A first ever for JCC, a community reach-out programme was organized together with Tampines West Community Club (TWCC) on Saturday, 25th July. Chibi Maruko Chan – a Japanese children’s classic was screened at TWCC and was well received by the audience of over 150 people.

Before the screening, the audience were given complimentary goodie bags and light snacks. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as the children together with their parents, settled down into their seats. The TWCC basketball court turned into an outdoor theatre, and the audience were thrilled towards the new recreation.

The movie about Chibi Maruko Chan stars Maruko-chan, a typical 9 year old girl who behaves like any other children around her age. As her school term begins, Maruko-chan and her classmates return to their small clique to experience new challenges. Although always cheerful, Maruko seems to face a lot of pressure at school, especially when the school’s athletic tournament approaches. How will Maruko face her challenges and pressure at a young and tender age?

At the end of the screening, audiences enquired about the next such, reach-out programmes by JCC. Our answer – stay tuned and follow our website and Facebook page for future announcements!
